The 6th winner of the St Leger,(although now called the September Stakes due to it being moved from Doncaster because of the First World War), held on Wednesday 13th September 1916 over the 1 mile 6 furlongs of the Cesarewitch course at Newmarket, was Hurry On, a chestnut colt by Marcovil out of Tout Suite, owned by Mr James Buchanan.
